London Branch opening

London, February 23, 2010 — The Russian Children’s Welfare Society (RCWS) will establish a presence in London this fall with a kick-off event to support the Society’s efforts to aid disadvantaged children in Russia by funding orphanages, schools, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals. London-based RCWS Board Member Eugenia Makhlin will connect the Society’s charitable endeavors in Russia to London’s vibrant Russian community.

RCWS relies on local support in New York City and Moscow to fund its charitable projects that include the treatment of children with maxillofacial deformities, a Scholarship Program enabling orphans to attain higher education, and an annual Yelka (New Year’s) party in Moscow for Russian orphans.

Fundraising events in New York City include the Annual Petroushka Ball held at the Waldorf-Astoria and "A Night of Fashion — Russian Style" held at the Ana Tzarev Gallery. RCWS is excited about the opportunities London presents for similar fundraising events and local support.

RCWS hopes to establish partnerships with London charities and corporations dedicated to assisting the vulnerable youth of Russia. Sponsorship of events and programs is an opportune chance to gain corporate visibility and network with prominent Russian-American businesses.

For invitations to upcoming events, or for information regarding sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, please contact rcwslondon@gmail.com. Please include your e-mail address and contact information.

Founded in 1926, the Russian Children’s Welfare Society focuses its efforts on improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Russia by supporting orphanages, homeless shelters, hospitals, schools, and rehabilitation centers for disabled children.
